Jenny Liu Leung - Artist Bio
I have always had a keen interest in classical art. For nearly three decades I lived in the northern rivers district of N.S.W; Its strong cultural ties with fishing and farming provided an idyllic rural scenery which I drew much influence from in my earlier artwork.
I initially focused on drawing and it wasn't until my retirement in 2005 that I began experimenting with other media. My first foray was in watercolour under the guidance of a great teacher, David Fam. Soon after I embarked on panting with pastel.
Although my earlier artwork centres on natural landscape, my focus is slowly shifting towards the world of figurative art. Today i reside in the beautiful Gold Coast area, where its abundance of hinterland and mountains continues to be an inspiration for my artwork.
"Art is not just a profession, but an ongoing pursuit to discover and connect with nature. Nature is full of music and harmony. It inspires me to paint, enlightening me with a sense of realness. Through each colour I unfold nature's splendour. Through each stroke I feel natures grandeur drawing me closer and closer. It touches my heart and stirs my imagination. I paint to let this journey possible."
